737 MAX: Boeing to pay 200 million USD in penalties

boeing 737 maxThe case of the two 737 MAX crashes is still making headlines. Boe-ing, sued by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for cov-ering up messages acknowledging the failure of the anti-stall system (MCAS), has decided to pay 200 million USD in penalties to settle cer-tain legal charges. Dennis Muilenburg, former CEO of the aircraft manufacturer, has also agreed to pay one million USD in penalties.

In 2021, Boeing had agreed to pay 2.5 billion USD to avoid further lawsuits. This amount included 1.77 billion USD in compensation to airlines, 500 million USD as indemnity to relatives of the victims and a 243.6 million USD fine.
