France: 15 000 victims of uninsured drivers in H1 2022

pedestrian accidentAccording to the barometer of the Guarantee Fund for Victims (FGV), France recorded nearly 15 000 victims of drivers without insurance in the first half of 2022. This figure marks a drop back to the level of uninsured driving that prevailed before the health crisis.

In 80% of cases, the offenders are men. Nearly 66% of these drivers are young people under the age of 35 with modest incomes.

In 2021, the hexagon registered more than 23 000 road accidents involving uninsured vehicles. In the same year, the Guarantee Fund for Compulsory Insurance (FGAO) paid out more than 118 million EUR to compensate victims, of which 110 million EUR were dedicated to injured or deceased individuals.
