Self-driving car projects on the back burner

self-driving carAfter years of effort and investment, self-driving car projects seem to face new challenges.

In October 2022, Ford and Volkswagen announced their withdrawal from the capital of Argo Al, an autonomous driving technology company. The automotive giants gave two main reasons: the start-up's inability to attract new investors and to deliver a self-driving vehicle in time. As for the giant Apple, it is pushing back the finalization date of its fully autonomous car project, without a steering wheel, which it plans to market at a price of 100 000 USD.

Initially scheduled for 2021, the project's completion has been postponed to 2026 for various reasons including Apple's accumulated delays, its high requirement levels, the impact of the pandemic and developments in the autonomous car market.
