United Kingdom: combustion-powered motorcycles to be banned by 2035

motoIn order to reach its carbon neutral objective by 2050, the British government is planning to ban the sale of new petrol powered motorcycles and scooters from 2035. The marketing of two-wheelers with internal combustion engines of 125 cm3 or more could be banned by 2030.

A public consultation has been initiated on the subject. The British have until 21 September 2022 to express their opinion.

In the UK, the sale of 100% combustion-fuelled cars will be banned starting 2030 and hybrids starting 2035. For their part, the European Union member states have approved a ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel powered vehicles starting in 2035.
