Hajj and Umrah insurance rates reduced for the 2023 pilgrimage to Mecca

pilgrimagee HajjThe Saudi government has announced a reduction in insurance fees for the 2023 pilgrimage. Insurance rates will be brought down from 109 SAR (29 USD) to 29 SAR (7.7 USD) for each Hajj pilgrim, which represents a 73% decrease.

The premium rates for Umrah will also be reduced by 63% from 235 SAR (62.6 USD) to 88 SAR (23.4 USD).

It should be recalled that Hajj is the great pilgrimage to Mecca. It takes place in the twelfth month of the Muslim year, between the 8th and 13th of the lunar month of "Dhu-al-Hijja". The Hajj takes place at a fixed annual period and is a sacred duty for Muslims.

The Umrah, or small pilgrimage, is optional and is performed outside the Hajj period.
