Drought in Argentina: crop losses estimated at 15 billion USD

Drought in ArgentinaArgentinian farmers expect losses of around 15 billion USD due to severe drought in the country.

The Rosario Chamber of Agriculture (main city in the province of Santa Fe) expects a 45% drop in soybean production while that of Buenos Aires forecasts a 44.6% decrease in wheat production during the 2022-2023 agricultural season. Maize and sunflower production are likely to fall by 24.4% and 10.3% respectively.

This natural disaster, which has persisted for three years in Argentina, is directly attributable to the "La Niña" climatic phenomenon and to the lack of rainfall.
