Fines for UAE employees who fail to underwrite unemployment insurance

unemployment insurance The new UAE unemployment insurance scheme has become mandatory for national and expatriate employees in the public and private sectors.

The program aims to compensate employees who have involuntarily lost their jobs.

Employees who fail to underwrite the unemployment insurance coverage by 30 June 2023 at the latest will have to pay a 400 AED (108.885 USD) fine.

According to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE), more than 60 000 people signed up for the program two days after it came into effect on 1 January 2023.
