June 2022 storms in France: loss estimate
According to France Assureurs, the bad weather that hit France from 2 to 5 June 2022 caused 258 000 claims for a total estimated cost of 940 million EUR (990 million USD).
This amount is broken down as follows:
- 410 million EUR (432 million USD) for the homeowner's class of business
- 370 million EUR (390 million USD) for the motor activity
- 90 million EUR (95 million USD) for professional property
- 70 million EUR (73 million USD) for agricultural property and crops
The natural catastrophe first hit the South-West of the country, going up to the Massif Central, with strong wind gusts, torrential rains and hailstorms. It then spread to the French Grand-Est. The casualties included one death and about fifteen injuries.
These bad weather conditions come in addition to those that occurred between 20 and 23 May 2022 in France, generating insured losses of around 323 million EUR (340.155 million USD).
