Declining number of accidents on Moroccan roads in 2022

Provisional statistics from the National Road Safety Agency (NARSA) indicated that by the end of 2022, Moroccan roads had recorded 113 740 bodily injuries, down by 1.53% compared to 2021.

In 2022, 3 201 road accident fatalities were recorded, representing a 6.84% drop over one year. The fatality ratio per 100 000 vehicles is 75 compared to 529 in 1971.

The number of serious injuries went down by 5.22%, while the number of minor injuries regressed by 1.07%.

NARSA estimates the economic and social cost of the lack of road safety at 19.5 billion MAD (2 billion USD), or 1.69% of the GDP.

It should be recalled that the Kingdom has established a national strategy aimed at achieving a 50% decrease in the mortality rate by 2026.
