It also has four (4) Subsidiary Companies namely, WAICA Re Zimbabwe Limited in Harare (Zimbabwe), WAICA Re Kenya in Nairobi (Kenya), an investments company namely WAICA Re Capital, Accra (Ghana) and WAICA Re (United Kingdom).


WAICA Re announces the vacancy of the position of Chief Finance Officer to be based Zimbabwe. The candidate should be a resident of Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia and The Gambia and should be ready to relocate to Zimbabwe.


Job purpose
The Chief Finance Officer role is responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of the subsidiary’s finance department through implementation of finance policies, approved budgets, and approved strategy to ensure the retention of the shareholder’s investment. Working with the Subsidiary Chief Executive Officer and receiving guidelines from the Group Chief Finance Officer, the role bares the responsibility of forecasting the subsidiary’s financial standing based on financial and operational data and reports and advise the Chief Executive Officer and the Subsidiary Board on the strategic direction.


Job duties and responsibilities:

  • Strategic Financial Management
  • Formulate and implement the Finance Strategy for the subsidiary.
  • Formulate the annual Budget and financial forecast (CAPEX, OPEX and Investments).
  • Consolidates all budgets for the subsidiary and monitors expenditure.
  • Formulate relevant actual Performance reports against budgets and monitor variances for submission to CEO i.e. (Board finance report, Quarterly and Monthly Management Financial reports).
  • Ensure all Finance employees comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Implement approved credit control policies and procedures.
  • Authorise all payments for settlement and ensure they are in line with approved budgets.
  • Implement all finance internal control systems as provided by Group Chief Finance Officer.

2. Investments Management

  • Source for Investable Assets and Vehicles and appraise them and implement according to Investment Policy.
  • Prepare an annual investments strategy.
  • Conduct the performance appraisal of the Investments quarterly.
  • Monitor the liquidity of the company to enable payment of short- and long-term obligations.
  • Liase with Estate valuators with respect to annual Investment properties valuation.

 

3. Compliance Management

  • Ensure compliance with all tax laws and ensure payments to tax authorities timeously.
  • Liaise with the tax consultant to ensure that the company’s tax system is effectively managed.
  • Ensure compliance with the requirements of the insurance regulator.
  • Ensure compliance with the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) rules and regulations.

 

4. Financial Reporting

  • Liase with the external auditors for the interim audit and annual audit of Financial Accounts.
  • Ensure the implementation of internal auditor’s recommendations arising in view of operations.
  • Review the monthly management accounts and submit same to Management.
  • Ensure Financial Reports are in compliance with IFRS.
  • Report and make earnings presentations to the Board, quarterly and annually.

Candidate Profile:    
Qualifications

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
  • Masters in Business Administration is an added advantage

Professional qualifications

  • Professional qualification like CA, ACCA or equivalent

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 relevant working experience
  • 5 years in Managerial role

Competencies

  • Can demonstrate a depth of proven experience of leading a Finance department
  • Technically proficient in IFRS
  • Strong analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively to diverse stakeholders
  • Advanced excel skills
