More than 270 trillion USD needed to reach carbon neutrality by 2050

carbon neutrality According to Swiss Re's estimates, more than 270 trillion USD of investments are needed to comply with the Paris Agreement and reach carbon neutrality by 2050.

The largest investment involves the transportation sector (114 trillion USD), followed by the energy (78 trillion USD), building (65 trillion USD) and industry (14 trillion USD) sectors. To that end, the public and private sectors should work together to unlock capital and channel it in a targeted manner.

Still according to Swiss Re, investments in decarbonization have been growing at an average of 5% per year since 2016. At this rate, the Paris Agreement targets will not be met for another 20 years.
