Insurance: M&A activity hits 10-year low
According to Clyde & Co, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in the insurance sector were at their lowest level for ten years in 2023.
A total of 346 transactions were concluded in 2023, against 449 in 2022, representing a 22.9% drop.
This downturn in activity is mainly due to high inflation rates, geopolitical risks, and economic uncertainty.
The Americas are still the most active M&A region, with 162 transactions over the past year.
Analysts estimate that Europe, ranked second in 2023, could surpass the Americas to claim first place in 2024.
