Oct 2010 The United Arab Emirates' insurance market has progressed by 9.8% at 20.1 billion AED (5.47 billion USD) in 2009. The non-life class of business, which accounts for 84% of the overall turnover with 16.8 billion AED (4.57 billion USD), is rising by 7.7%. Life insurance is progressing by 22.2% in one year and reporting a collection of 3.3 billion AED (898 million USD). There were 32 national companies and 16 foreign ones operating in the emirates. The number of brokers is of 169 but this year it went down by 20%.
