The analysis of the road crashes in Malaysia has yielded unequivocal results. It found that economic losses amounted to 2.96 billion USD, that is, 1.5% of the GDP. These losses are accounted for by various factors such as insurance costs and medical costs. Despite these bad figures, the rate of deadly accidents went from 4.3% five years ago down to 3.55 % in 2010. The two wheelers (bicycles and motorcycles) account for a large number of those 6745 people killed in 2009.
