Old Mutual, the first life insurer in South Africa, is trying to purchase the British branch of the mega-insurer AMP. The cost of this operation is estimated at USD 2,5 billion.

AMP, the specialist in managing life insurance portfolios, operates mainly in Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. The company is listed among the 30 largest life insurers in the world.
