According to some media, Momentum, the insurance branch of First Rand and Aflife's majority shareholder, would be about to yield 33.38% of its stakes in the South African life insurer's capital. Sanlam, which already holds 28.43% of Aflife's shares, would be interested in this acquisition which would enable it to control the company at 61.8%.
