The market's turnover (excluding international acceptances) has progressed by 12.8% in 2009 in comparison with 2008 reaching 76 billion DZD (1.07 billion USD). This growth is accounted for by the motor +18.3% and the property damage +9.9% classes of business. Motor insurance accounts for 46% of the market which is dominated at 65% by state-owned and part state-owned companies.
