Earthquake insurance on the rise. The year 2008 has witnessed numerous earthquakes. As a consequence, the number of policies covering such catastrophes has reached its highest record for the 6thconsecutive year. In comparison with last year, the number of fire policies covering earthquakes has soared by 45% for owners of real estate. In Japan, the earthquake guarantee is sold along with fire policy and extends to volcanic eruptions and tsunamis.
