El Amana Takaful started operations late October 2013. It is the second islamic insurer, after Zitouna Takaful, to obtain license on the Tunisian market. The new company is endowed with a capital worth 10 million TND (6 million USD) and detained at 60% by a Tunisian insurance pool comprising CARTE, COMAR, Astrée and Tunis Re.
The groups Dallah Al Baraka and Al Baraka Bank Bahrain detain 34% of the capital while the remaining 6% have been underwritten by the industrial group Mzabi. El Amana Takaful, whose general manager is Abdellatif Chaabane, is selling life and non-life policies.
