Mar 2014 According to the department of insurance and social welfare (DAPS), the Guarantee Fund of traffic accidents processed 2 817 new cases in 2012, compared to 2 300 in 2011. The files examined for the 2012 occurrence year account for 18% of all claims filed.
The number of victims reached 5 462, 5003 of whom were injured and 459 killed. Files opened for unlicensed drivers totaled 333, increase of 57.82 % compared to 2011. The total amount of compensation paid in 2012 amounted to 37.81 million MAD (4.48 million USD).
