Qatar Rail has awarded the cover of Doha Metro project to a consortium of six local insurance companies (QIC, Qatar General Insurance and Reinsurance, Al Khaleej Takaful Group, Doha Insurance, Qatar Islamic Insurance and Al Koot Insurance and Reinsurance).
The National Insurance Consortium is led by Qatar Insurance Company (QIC). He is joined in his coverage capacity by Doha Bank Assurance, SEIB Insurance and Reinsurance (members of the Qatar Financial Centre) and international reinsurers led by Liberty Speciality Markets (UK).
The consortium will provide during the Phase 1, "construction all risks" and "third-party liability" covers. 80 % of the risk will be borne by domestic companies.
For information, the Doha Metro project should lead to the construction of a 231 km rail network. It will be divided into two phases of 131 and 100 km, including a total of 92 railway stations.
