May 2014 Hollard (South Africa) has obtained various approvals and started negotiations to strengthen its activities in Africa and Asia.
Having obtained the necessary approvals in Indonesia, the South African group will soon sell life insurance products there.
In India, Hollard has begun talks with a local conglomerate, for an alliance to create a company specialized in property insurance. An operation that should lead the insurer to invest 53 million USD in India over the next six years.
Nic Kohler, general manager of Hollard, said the insurer "ready to proceed with an acquisition" to integrate the Ghanaian market. It is currently in "discussion with an existing [...] actor to buy a majority stake."
