Health insurance program, an anti-smoking clause in the study

In collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the insurance companies, the Council of Cooperative Health Insurance (CCHI) has formed a task force aimed to study the introduction of an anti-smoking clause in health insurance policies.

This clause provides supply of medication for smokers either for free or at reduced cost in order to stop smoking.

According to Ali Al-Wadai, general supervisor of the anti-smoking campaign of the Ministry, persuading people to quit smoking is not simply used to reduce the bill of health insurers; it is primarily a "national duty highly recommended by the World Health Organization."
