Jul 2014 The insurer Nigerian Sovereign Trust Insurance has been admitted as a member of the African Oil & Energy Insurance Pool for a period of two years (2014-2016). Sovereign Trust Insurance was founded in 1995.
The group specializes in insuring energy, telecommunications and banking risks. Entry to the pool will allow the insurer to take part in decisions as administrator along with nine other members including two Nigerians.
The other African insurers serving on the pool are: CICA Re (Togo), Chanas Assurances (Cameroon), Compagnie Centrale de Réassurance (Algeria), Misr Insurance (Egypt), Tunis Re (Tunisia) and Zep Re (Kenya).
