Kenya Re recorded gross premiums of 11.5 billion KES (124.6 million USD) in 2014, an increase by 20% compared to 9.6 billion KES (104 million USD) in 2013.
Backed by this strong growth, the reinsurer posted a net profit up by 12% to 3.1 billion KES (33.6 million USD).
Kenya Re is also planning to open an office in Lusaka (Zambia), which will serve as a hub for its operations in Southern Africa (Zimbabwe, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Mozambique and Swaziland).
