The MH17 flight, shot in the Ukraine, is not included in these figures because it is not considered to be a hazard.
The rate of accidents involving jet aircrafts has been of 0.23 (loss of aircraft per million flights) which accounts for one accident for every 4.4 million flights.
This is, to date, the lowest rate in the history of aviation.
In 2013, the index stood at 0.58 per million flights. The mean value of the last five years is established at 0.33 accidents per million takeoffs.
