Insurers’ good health continues

In late December 2014, all Namibian insurers held an excess capital commitment worth 4.6 billion NAD (396 million USD), that is an increase of 7% in comparison with previous quarter.

In life and health insurance, excess capital has increased by 2.8% and 8.6% respectively at 31 December of the previous year. At end of 2014, the total insurance companies’ assets amounted to 40.2 billion NAD (3.46 billion USD) compared to 39.1 billion NAD (3.47 billion USD) at the end of the third quarter of the same year.

The majority of insurers operating in the country have experienced an average increase of 9.5% of their assets. Only two insurers reported a decline of 2.5%.
