The latest report of the Agency for the Fight against insurance fraud (Alfa) reveals that in 2014, the cost of life insurance fraud is estimated at 2.5 billion EUR (3 billion USD). Of this amount, only 219 million EUR ( 266.22 million USD) were recovered by insurers.
In 2014, the number of fraudulent cases was 42 529. This figure is four times greater than that mentioned 11 years earlier. The Alfa survey concerns 76.9% of the French property and casualty market.
