Jul 2015 The German group Munich Re announces the portfolio transfer of Munich Mauritius Reinsurance Company (MMRC), a subsidiary of Munich Reinsurance Company of Africa. This decision took effect on July 9, 2015 with the immediate closure of the Mauritian subsidiary. The portfolio of Munich Mauritius Reinsurance Company will now be managed in Johannesburg.
Munich Re has been operating in Africa since 1968 through the company Munich Reinsurance Company of Africa (MRoA) based in Johannesburg and liaison offices in Nairobi (Kenya) and Accra (Ghana).
