Apr 2010 Santam, the first South African non life insurer, is reporting a 55% increase of its per share earnings. This good result is accounted for by the improvement of investments output. The underwriting activity remains, nevertheless, under pressure as regards corporate and individual risks. The economic conditions account for the poor demand from the insured.
