Dec 2015 The UAE control authorities have granted licenses to AXIS Re and Qatar Re for the opening of representative offices in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
The new Axis Re office will cover Accident & Health risks for the Middle East and Africa regions. Qatar Re office will, in turn, market facultative reinsurance solutions in the areas of maritime transportation, aviation, property damage, energy, third party liability as well as personal accident. The new entity has been operational from mid-December 2015 and is chaired by Nabih Massaad. Its services will be divided into three zones: the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
As a reminder, Qatar Re completed in early December 2015, the transfer of its headquarters from Doha to Bermuda.
