The Indian government has introduced a new crop insurance scheme especially targeting small farmers. The plan aims to cover, by 2018, 50% of farmers in the territory.
Tariffs of these new products would be ten times lower than those currently marketed by insurers. Besides lower prices, the draft scheme introduces quick claim settlement procedures.
