Jan 2016 Alice Vaidyan has been appointed chairperson and managing director of the Indian reinsurer GIC Re.
As an emblematic figure in the world of reinsurance, A. Vaidyan has already held several management positions within the company. She had been general manager of GIC Re since 2012 and had temporarily replaced Ashok Kumar Roy who retired in July 2015.
A graduate in chemistry and English literature, A. Vaidyan also studied at the Insurance Institute of India.
Appointed as CEO until July 31, 2019, she has, not only to reposition GIC Re on both local and international markets but also face the giants of the global reinsurance henceforth allowed to settle in India.
