Feb 2016 China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC) has established an investment fund in infrastructure and emerging sectors of the economy. The establishment of this fund is meant to facilitate the funding of major projects such as property renovation, the construction of road infrastructure, energy distribution networks, etc. Investments in the health and environment industries will also be part of the action plan.
The initial budget of the fund, set at 40 billion CNY (6 billion USD), is poised to amount to 300 billion CNY (46 billion USD) later on. It will be managed by China Insurance Investment Company. The fund includes among its shareholders 27 insurance companies and 15 asset management companies specialized in insurance.
