Swiss Re, the second largest reinsurer, reported a net profit of 4.6 billion USD for the year 2015, up by 31% compared to 2014. The volume of premiums underwritten, however, fell by 3.5% to 30.2 billion USD.
The increase in the Zurich Group net profit is primarily related to the improved results of the life and health class of business which went from a loss of 462 million USD in 2014 to end the year 2015 with a profit of 939 million USD.
The dividend paid to shareholders increased by 8.2% to 4.60 CHF (4.62 USD) per share.
