Feb 2016 The Société Algérienne des Assurances (SAA) and the Court of Algiers held, on 2 March 2016, a seminar on the motor insurance disputes.
According to Nacer Sais, chairman and general manager of SAA, 20% of motor claims, either material or moral are handled by the courts. Faced with lengthy file processing deadlines or low repayment proposals, the insured resort to court to defend their cases.
Under the legislation, this action constitutes a right of the parties to the insurance contract. It is therefore not a problem for professionals.
However, the amounts allocated to the complainants often seem excessive by insurers who fear for their financial balance.
