Emirati authorities have detected 4.9 million violations to the road traffic regulations in the course of the first ten months of the year 2015, that is, 16 300 a day. These figures are clear evidence that a majority of motorists is hardly careful, exposing road users and pedestrians to serious accidents.
Nearly 84% of the violations reported by police pertain to speeding while other offences are mainly related to unannounced changes of lanes without using flashing signals, absence of the use of safety belt, non-compliance with traffic lights and use of mobile phones.
