Chinese non life insurers collected nearly 76 836 billion CNY (11.84 billion USD) in premiums in 2015 thanks to the sale of insurance policies online.
This turnover represents a 52% increase in comparison with 2014. More than 80% of these amounts are accounted for by the web sites of the insurance companies themselves. A total of 49 non life insurers out of 71 are using the internet as a distribution network.
Sales from platforms other than those of the insurers account for 8.3% of the profits reaped online.
Underwritings generated through applications in mobile devices have reached 9.7%. The last two channels of distribution did not exceed 5% each in 2014.
