The Omani insurance market recorded a turnover of 422 million OMR(1.1 billion USD) in 2015, that is an increase of 11.5% compared to 2014.
With 162.3 million OMR (422.9 million USD) of written premiums , motor risks accounted for 38.5% of the market overall underwritings.
Followed by health insurance with 102,5 millions OMR (267,1 millions USD), life insurance with 52, 86 million OMR (USD 137.7 million) and damage to property with 46.54 million OMR (121.3 million USD).
During the year under review, claims paid by Omani insurers increased by 25.2% going from 232.21 million OMR (605 million USD)in 2014 to 290.72 million OMR (757.7 million USD) in 2015, 113.86 million OMR(296.7 million USD) of which stemming from the motor class of business.
