Dec 2016 The Capital Markets Authority (CMA), the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and Oman Reinsurance Company (Oman Re) are willing to introduce agricultural insurance in the Sultanate.
The three partners have met on several occasions to study the implementation of this insurance class of business. A document will be ready in the first quarter of the current year.
Currently abandoned, the Omani agricultural sector is facing several risks (flood, drought, plant disease, etc.). This class of business could represent a new growth opportunity for the market.
