The overall premiums generated in 2016 by the 24 Jordanian insurance companies amounted to 582.9 million JOD (825.6 million USD). This figure is up by 5.8% in comparison with 2015.
The market remained dominated by the non life class of business, which accounts for 87% of the underwritings. With 70.1 million JOD (99.2 million USD), life insurance, although of a small amount, posted a strong growth of 14.6% in one year.
Motor, health and fire continue to be the top three marketed classes of business in Jordan with respectively 39%, 29% and 13% of written premiums.
