2022 Soccer World Cup: construction insurance schemes for the stadiums

A group of six local insurers obtained 80% of the insurance policies related to the construction of the stadiums for the Football World Cup scheduled in Qatar in 2022.

Called National Insurance Consortium, this group is composed of Qatar Islamic Insurance, Qatar Insurance, Qatar General Insurance & Reinsurance, Al Khaleej Takaful Group, Doha Insurance and Al Koot Insurance & Reinsurance.

French group Scor is taking part in the reinsurance of all the risks involved. The overall value of the contract that covers the contractors’ all risks and the third party liability policies for seven out of the eight stadiums has not been disclosed yet.

Seven brand new sports venues will be built while the Khalifa International Stadium is being renovated.
