According to a recent report provided by the national police, Algerian roads recorded a total of 14 452 accidents in 2016, that is a decrease of 29.02% compared to 2015.
The number of fatalities recorded during the same year was 3 306 against 3 801 the previous year, a decline of 13%. Amounting to 25 705, the number of injured persons also decreased by 29.88% in 2016.
The human factor is responsible for 86% of accidents with 17.51% of the losses attributable to young people between 25 and 29 years old.
Finally, freight and passenger vehicles accounted for 29% of the 2016 accidents.
