Gen Re, reinsurer of Berkshire Hathaway Group, has obtained the approval of the Indian Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRDAI) to open a branch in Mumbai.
The new entity will be run by Venkatesh N. Chakravarty who will also be in charge of life and health activities. Non life insurance will be headed by Nighat Khan.
