Jun 2017 China Re has launched the first national research center dedicated to natural catastrophes. This institution aims at developping advanced technologies to anticipate the occurrence of natural catastrophes and limit their impact.
The center will also create a database that will serve as a platform for sharing and exchanging information on this type of risk.
In this context, the Chinese government has initiated talks with Swiss Re and Munich Re to gradually transfer the coverage of natural disasters to private actors.
