Connected health insurance, launched by the South African insurer Discovery, has been exported to the four corners of the globe: from Singapore to the United States, from France to China and soon to Australia. Generali, John Hancock Insurance Company, Prudential and Humana have adopted this product in partnership with Discovery.
The offer includes collecting data on the lifestyle of the insured persons. Those persons exhibiting a healthy lifestyle will benefit from reductions in their insurance premiums. Information is measured using a connected wristband designed to track heart rate, distances traveled and calories burned... The device is also designed to measure sleep duration and quality.
