After several years of declining reinsurance tariffs , the renewal of January 1, 2018 marks a turnaround.
According to the brokerage firm Willis Re, the reinsurance treaties of the property damage class of business recorded an increase between 0 and 7.5% in early 2018. This upward trend was even sharper for some segments and affected markets.
Reinsurance tariffs for natural catastrophes increased by 10% in the United States and between 20 and 40% in the Caribbean.
The revision of tariffs comes after an exceptionally affected 2017 year.
