As part of the 2018 Finance Act, the Tunisian government has decided to increase the single tax on insurance (TUA). According to article 43 of the law 66-2017 dated December 17, 2017, the TUA rates increase as follows:
Insurace contracts for motor, health, property damage and land cargo will increase from 10% to 12%. Other types of marine insurance contracts from 5% to 6%.
Other policies are nonetheless tax exempt. They include mainly agricultural insurance, travel, construction, decennial third party liability, transportation of goods for export, assistance to persons and life insurance. Reinsurance treaties are also exempt from tax.
