Mar 2018 The Moroccan insurance market generated a turnover of 38 920 million MAD (4.17 billion USD)in 2017, up by 11% compared to the 35 102 million MAD (3.49 billion USD) of 2016.
Life insurance, which accounts for 43.6% of the total underwritings, increased by 18.8% from 14 296 million MAD (1.42 billion USD) in 2016 to 16 985 million MAD (1.82 billion USD) in 2017.
With a turnover of 21.935 million MAD (2.35 billion USD) in 2017, the non-life class of business posted a more moderate increase of 5.4%. The latter is still dominated at 26.9% by motor insurance followed by workmen's compensation and fire insurance with shares of 10.1% and 5.7% respectively.
