Apr 2018 During 2017, Luxembourg witnessed the arrival of ten new insurance companies: AIG, Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance, CNA Hardy, FM Global, Hiscox, Liberty Mutual, RSA, SOMPO, Tokyo Marine and Britannia. Luxembourg’s financial center, today, accounts for 46 life insurers, 42 non life insurers and 207 reinsurance companies, including captives.
During the same year, the insurance market in Luxembourg reported a 13.66% increase in premiums. This business is supported by life insurance which progressed by 15.22% versus 4.43% for the non life class of business.
In total, 139 financial institutions (insurers, banks, asset managers, …) from 28 countries chose to get established or consolidate their operations in the Grand-Duché in 2017.
